Writing about local search, for the people who have to do it

Written from client work rather than from a content calendar. If something here saves you paying anyone — including us — to do it, that is a good outcome.

How to Do Local SEO for Small Businesses

What to fix first, what to skip, and roughly how long any of it takes. Why the site comes before the listing, and why a page can rank first and get no clicks.

Local SEO on the North Shore, MA

A lot of what ranks for Beverly, Lynn and Salem is run from other states on a template. Which leaves real search terms with almost no local competition.

What SEO costs

Packages and price ranges, published rather than quoted on a call. See SEO services.

What results look like

Three clients, real Search Console numbers, and an honest note on what those numbers do not prove. See case studies.

The listing before the website

For most local searches the map decides it. See profile management.

Who writes this

Written the way we write for clients

Every article here starts where a client's does: with a question somebody actually asked. Not a topic chosen because it has search volume, and not a piece written to fill a calendar.

Sometimes the writing starts before the service does. When a client is planning something new — a treatment, a product line, a location — the pages go up months ahead, so that by the time they are ready to sell it, the pages are already ranking and the enquiries are already arriving. A page needs months to reach the first page of Google. A decision to offer something new takes weeks. Do it in that order and the launch lands in silence.

That is the method, and what you read here is what we produce for the businesses we work with. Same research, same structure, same refusal to pad.

If you want this done for your business, that is a service.
