Web design & dev · North Shore, MA

Websites built by hand, for small businesses on the North Shore.

No page builder, no theme, no stack of plugins loading scripts you never asked for. Every page written directly in HTML, which is why they load quickly and why search engines can read them without a fight.

Is this you

The website you have is probably doing half the job.

Most sites we're asked to look at share the same handful of problems. None of them are about how the site looks.

It loads slowly

Usually a theme plus a dozen plugins, each loading its own scripts and fonts. Visitors on a phone give up before the page appears.

It has no structure

One page trying to cover six services. Search engines can't tell what any of it is about, and neither can the visitor.

It never says where you are

The single most common problem, and the one that costs the most. If the page never names your towns, it can't rank for them.

It doesn't ask for anything

No visible phone number, no click-to-call on mobile, a contact form buried three clicks deep. Traffic arrives and leaves without a trace.

You can't change it yourself

Updating your hours means emailing whoever built it and waiting. So it doesn't get updated, and the site slowly drifts out of date.

SEO was added afterwards

A plugin bolted on at the end, filling in fields nobody checked. Search has to be part of how the page is built, not a layer applied later.

How it works

Five stages, in order.

1 · Strategy

What you sell, who buys it, which towns matter. We agree the keyword for every page before a single line is written, because retrofitting keywords onto finished copy means rewriting copy you already approved.

2 · Structure

One page per thing you sell, in a hierarchy that makes sense to a visitor and to a crawler. This is where most sites are lost or won.

3 · Design and build

Written directly in HTML and CSS. Clean on a phone, readable on a laptop, and light enough to load on a bad connection in a parking lot.

4 · Testing

Speed, mobile layout, every link, every image, and the structured data search engines read. Checked on a live preview before anything goes public.

5 · Launch and after

Redirects from your old URLs so you keep the rankings you already have. Then ongoing SEO if you want it, or the site simply runs. Either way you'll see it working in the results we publish.

Why this matters

One dental practice ranked for years on a description of somebody else.

A client came to us with a site built by a previous developer. The pages were indexed and the content read well. We spent months on content and off-site work and the numbers barely moved — which is the point at which most people conclude the market is simply hard.

The cause was in the structured data — the machine-readable description of the business that sits in the code and never appears on screen. It carried another company's details, and nowhere did it say this was a local dental practice. Search engines had a confident, precise description of the wrong business.

10,910Keywords now ranking
2,450Ranking in first place
0% → 99%Technical health score

Once the structured data was corrected and the rest of the technical work followed, the rankings moved — and the ongoing SEO that had been running all along finally had something accurate to act on.

This is the argument for hand-coded HTML in one paragraph. When every line of your site is readable, nothing describing the wrong business can sit in it for years. The full numbers are published.

What clients say

Every review on Google is five stars.

Our website and code needed work and she put in the time to fix a lot of issues. Within a few months I saw organic traction to our website and clients outreach increase because of her SEO optimization tools and skillset.

Jarrod Scalzo Google review

They were very helpful and answered all my questions without the over the head techy jargon. I had no idea of everything that goes into a site but good thing for me, they do!

Being straight with you

Who this isn't for.

If you need a one-page site up this week for the smallest possible cost, a template builder will serve you better and we'll say so. Same if you're happy editing everything yourself and search traffic isn't a priority.

This is built for service businesses, medical and professional practices, and local companies that intend to still be found in three years. It costs more than a template and it's meant to last longer than one.

Your Google listing matters as much as the site — often more. See profile management, or tell us what isn't working.

Web design questions

Questions we get asked.

How much does a small business website cost?

It depends on how many services you sell and how much content exists already. We quote after looking at your current site, not before. If a template builder would serve you better, we will say so.

How long does it take to build?

Weeks rather than months for most small business sites. Strategy and structure take the longest, because getting the keyword for every page agreed before writing saves rewriting copy you already approved.

Can I update the website myself?

Yes. Website Manager lets you describe a change in plain English — new hours, a different photo, a paragraph reworded. Every change is reviewed before it publishes.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I get a new website?

Not if the redirects are done properly. Every old URL needs a redirect to its new home, or the rankings you spent years earning disappear the day you switch. This is the step people skip.
